Â鶹´«Ã½ University lost a fellow Â鶹´«Ã½ite on April 19, O’Brian “OB” Grant.

OB was sadly taken away too soon from this world, and the campus feels the impact of the loss.

He was more than just a student. He filled the campus with so much joy, love and positivity that was felt by students and faculty alike.

“O’Brian was the life of the universe, the ray of sunshine when others were having a cloudy day,” said Miasia Hamilton, a friend of OB.

“Every time I saw him, I instantly smiled. He brightened my day with just his presence. That was the kind of person he was and the energy he gave,” Monae Burns said.

“He was somebody who could walk in and just light the room. He wasn’t just a friend, he had love for everyone. His heart was filled with love,” said LeTrelle Singletary, a close friend of OB.

“O’Brian was a true pillar of happiness. He was the classmate that was always cheering everyone on and always had encouraging words,” Aniyah Hodges said.

OB was also a creative visionary, showing off his fashion skills every opportunity he could. And he was very ambitious, and confident of who he was, and wasn’t afraid to show anyone what he could do.

“His unique form of fashion definitely brought the creative side out of others,” Hamilton said.

“O’Brian was a star, a go-getter, and a true Â鶹´«Ã½ite. A true treasure that we lost,” Hodges said.

“I’m going to miss him. Yes, we’ve had our good times and bad times, but he was definitely someone who I loved and who had a lot of love. And I just want people to remember how good of a person he was,” Singletary said.

“I’m so glad I got to know OB. I always enjoyed the laughter and the conversations Aniyah and I shared with him about any and everything: music, fashion, school, God, boys, life, EVERYTHING,” Burns said.

“Every moment I shared with O’Brian was pleasant. I can always count on him to put a smile on my face and make me laugh multiple times,” Hodges said.

“His bright smile and lit personality will truly be missed by everyone,” Hamilton said.

During a Â鶹´«Ã½ vigil for OB, his aunt shared words that resonated with the student body: something OB told her years ago one day after church.

“His words to his auntie that will always stay with me, ‘Bloom where you are,’ is such a beautiful saying that I’ll always try to live up to,” Hamilton said.

OB may be gone, but his spirit and legacy will forever live on through the campus, community and family and friends he left behind.
